Central ducted air systems
The most common type of central heating and cooling in contemporary houses are central ducted air systems. Your home has a ducted air system if it has a furnace, air conditioner or heat pump. Central ducted air systems have two main types:
A forced-air system with an air conditioner that cools air, a heat pump that warms or cools air, or a furnace that warms air, has a blower that forces air through the system.
A gravity furnace conducts heated air through the system from a furnace. Gravity systems can only deliver heated air. They do not have blowers like forced-air systems.
